These cultural landmarks offer a deep insight into Nepal’s rich history, art, and spiritual heritage. Later, meet your trekking guide for a detailed trek briefing, gear check, and permit preparation. The evening is free for last-minute shopping or relaxation before beginning your Annapurna Base Camp trekking adventure.
Early morning, we take a scenic 30–35 minute flight from Tribhuvan International Airport to Tenzing-Hillary Airport, with stunning Himalayan views before landing at Lukla (2,860m). From Lukla, the trek begins along the Dudh Koshi River, passing through Sherpa villages, pine forests, and suspension bridges. We descend gradually to Phakding (2,610m), covering about 8–9 km in 3–4 hours, giving the body time to acclimatize. The trail stays gentle and scenic, offering a perfect introduction to the Everest Base Camp journey. The day ends with an overnight stay in a cozy teahouse in the peaceful mountains.
We will begin our trek from Phakding (2,610m) and make our way toward Namche Bazaar (3,440m), moving deeper into the heart of Sagarmatha National Park. We will follow the Dudh Koshi River, crossing through traditional villages like Monjo and Jorsalle while enjoying forested trails and suspension bridges along the route. We will gradually notice the landscape changing from lush green forests to more rugged alpine terrain, with stunning views of peaks such as Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru appearing along the way. We will cover approximately 10–11 km in about 5–6 hours, with a steady altitude gain of around 830 meters. We will face a steep final ascent to Namche Bazaar, but upon arrival, we will be welcomed by the vibrant atmosphere of this iconic Sherpa town, an important gateway to the Everest Base Camp Trek.
Namche Bazaar (3,440m) is an important acclimatization stop on the Everest Base Camp Trek, where a rest day helps the body adjust to higher altitude. The day is spent exploring this vibrant Sherpa town, walking through local shops, cafés, and bakeries, or visiting the Sherpa Culture Museum to learn about mountain traditions and lifestyle. A popular acclimatization hike leads to the Everest View Hotel or nearby ridge points, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. This active rest day helps with proper acclimatization while allowing us to fully absorb the stunning Himalayan atmosphere.
Starting from Namche (3,440m), the trail ascends gradually through beautiful pine and rhododendron forests, with occasional glimpses of towering Himalayan peaks along the way. We trek for around 5–6 hours, covering approximately 9–10 km, with an altitude gain of about +400m, along with a small descent of around -150m in river valley sections. As we move deeper into the Khumbu region, we reach Tengboche (3,860m), a spiritual highlight of the journey, home to the iconic Tengboche Monastery set dramatically against the backdrop of Ama Dablam. Here, we experience a peaceful Buddhist prayer ceremony and enjoy the serene atmosphere. The sunset views over the surrounding peaks are unforgettable, and the night is spent in a cozy teahouse surrounded by the calm Himalayan setting.
We will start our trek from Tengboche (3,860m) to Dingboche (4,380m), crossing the Imja Khola river as we gradually enter the high-altitude alpine zone. We will trek for around 5–6 hours, covering approximately 10–11 km, with a steady altitude gain of about +520m as the landscape becomes more rugged and dramatic. As we ascend, we will notice the vegetation becoming sparse, marking the beginning of the true high Himalayas. Along the way, we will enjoy stunning views of towering peaks like Ama Dablam and Lhotse dominating the skyline. Upon reaching Dingboche, we will settle into a comfortable teahouse, rest, and prepare for our important acclimatization day on the Everest Base Camp Trek route.
Dingboche serves as an ideal acclimatization stop. A light hike to nearby hills such as Nagarjun Hill helps us gain extra altitude safely, allowing the body to adjust to thinner air. From the hill, we enjoy panoramic views of surrounding peaks and valleys, offering excellent photo opportunities. The day combines gentle activity with rest, preparing us well for the more challenging days ahead.
Leaving Dingboche (4,410m), we gradually climb through rugged moraine and rocky Himalayan terrain as the air becomes thinner and the landscape more dramatic. The trail offers stunning views of peaks like Pumori and Nuptse, along with the vast Khumbu Glacier. We trek for around 4–5 hours, covering approximately 7–8 km, with an altitude gain of about +500m, requiring steady pacing due to the altitude. Major highlights include close-up Himalayan vistas, walking alongside glacial moraine fields, and entering the high-altitude alpine zone with a strong sense of approaching Everest Base Camp. By afternoon, we arrive at Lobuche (4,910m) and rest in a teahouse surrounded by the raw beauty of the Himalayas.
The trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep (5,164m) passes through a stark high-altitude landscape and the emotional memorials of climbers who lost their lives on Everest, creating a deeply reflective atmosphere along the way. We trek for around 3–4 hours, covering approximately 5–6 km, with an altitude gain of about +250m, as the terrain becomes more rugged and glacial. After reaching Gorakshep, we take a short rest before continuing an afternoon hike to Kalapatthar (5,545m), one of the best viewpoints for close-up views of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse. Watching the sunset light up the Himalayan giants is an unforgettable, awe-inspiring experience. We then return to Gorakshep for the night, where early dinner and rest are essential due to the extreme altitude.
Early in the morning, we hike from Gorakshep (5,164m) to the iconic Everest Base Camp (5,364m), covering around 10–11 km round trip in approximately 7–8 hours, with an altitude gain of about +200m to the base camp. The route offers breathtaking views of the Khumbu Icefall and surrounding Himalayan peaks, making it a powerful moment of achievement and reflection. After spending time at base camp, we return to Gorakshep for lunch before beginning a long descent to Pheriche (4,240m), covering around 13–14 km in 6–7 hours. Although we are descending, the day remains demanding, so steady pacing and proper hydration are important throughout. By evening, we reach Pheriche and settle into a warm teahouse for a well-earned overnight rest.
The return journey begins with a steady descent from the high Himalayas, passing through Dingboche and Tengboche with time to reflect on the journey and achievements so far. We will trek for around 6–7 hours per day in sections, covering a longer distance as we move back toward lower elevations, with a significant altitude loss of about -1,800m overall before reaching Namche Bazaar (3,440m). The trail offers familiar yet stunning Himalayan views one last time, along with peaceful forest paths, suspension bridges, and village landscapes. Major highlights include retracing key sections of the Everest region, enjoying changing perspectives of the mountains, and the vibrant atmosphere of Namche where we can finally relax, celebrate the journey, and rest in a comfortable teahouse before continuing downward.
Today is a full-day descent from Namche Bazaar (3,440m) to Lukla (2,860m), retracing our route through familiar trails, including Phakding and the surrounding Dudh Koshi Valley. We trek for around 6–7 hours, covering approximately 18–20 km, with an overall altitude loss of about -580m, making the walk feel easier as we gradually return to lower elevations and regain strength in our legs. Along the way, we pass suspension bridges, riverside paths, pine forests, and traditional Sherpa villages, now seen from a fresh perspective after completing the higher sections of the journey. By late afternoon, we arrive in Lukla and celebrate the successful completion of the Everest Base Camp trek, enjoying a final night in a teahouse filled with reflection, relief, and memories of the mountains.
After breakfast, we take a short scenic flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu, enjoying one last aerial view of the Himalayas. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, we are transferred to the hotel for rest and relaxation after the long trek. The rest of the day is free to unwind exploring Thamel one last time, shopping for souvenirs, or enjoying a comfortable meal in the city. A hot shower and a soft bed feel especially rewarding after the challenging days in the mountains, marking a peaceful end to the Everest Base Camp journe
